Finger Pointing (February 28)

28 Feb

Kate here again with my picks from the galleries tonight! I hope you enjoy them!

Valentines 2010 by JenniferHignite

So simple and so sweet, this is a great contained Valentine’s page – the little hearts are just enough to illustrate the theme without overpowering the photos.

Week 8 by michelleL

There are lots of weekly P365 summary pages in the galleries at the moment, but this one really stood out with the layered circular photos, the stitching and the super photography. Gorgeous.

Whats in a name? by mishou

Such a cute series of photos and superb use of the journalling as a design element – the different colours, sizing and spacing all become part of the composition of the page. Fabulous!

Inspiration Board by nevache

What a great little project to put together and the colours here are so beautifully handled, this is calming and soothing and inspiring all at the same time!

23 Days by nikkiARNGwife

Such a bittersweet page. Great series of photos unified by altering them to black and white, great blocked composition and lots of little touches really make this page special.

Natal by Paula Francovig

Such a fun and eclectic mix of goodies! I could look at this page for hours and still find something new, fabulous work!

Funny things by pixiedust

Such fun! I love all the “ha ha ha”s splashed round the page and the cute little doodles peeking out here and there!

Not Just A Game by slurpeegirl13

My husband is watching this game as I type (and I’m listening in!) Even though we are 4500+ miles away from Vancouver, the excitement of the games has caught us here too. How wonderful to record this moment of national pride!

Busted by voodoo_bryn

Ha ha! I just love this layout! I love the pieced together photos, the red hand print and the clusters on the edge of the page, the spirit of mischief has really been captured here!

Finger Pointing (February 27)

Evening all, I hope you’re enjoying the start of your weekend! Here are my picks for today:

aly321’s First Carousel Ride

I love all the colour and the chaos – just perfect for the theme here!

AmyL’s According to Martha

Great blocked composition and wonderful colours, a cute subject to scrap too!

heather h’s Pocket Full of Sunshine

Oh so cool! Wonderful use of the photo as the full background, the doodles and extra small photos are just perfectly placed.

JenniferBarrette’s FEAR

I think this is a really dramatic page, the dark background and big bold title really catch the viewer’s eye. Cleverly done.

joscie’s it takes a village

Fabulous composition, I love all the circles and the positioning of the main photograph is great.

Ooze’s Sweet Dreams

Utter cuteness on a page, this is one of the prettiest layouts I think I have ever seen!

pSyren’s Back to the beach

This is very cleverly done, the fading photo and the arrow work so well here.

rebecca h’s jelly belly’s

I adore this page! It has such a great hand-made feel, I love all the layers and the fabulous photography. And the jelly beans of course :)

Windgefluester’s Everyday

Another really pretty page! The clever side composition is nicely balanced with the blended wordart, lovely candid photography too.

Good Morning and a Happy Friday to all! Here are my picks for today.

A Snowy February by tracyblesswith2

I love this photo! Great angle and I love the processing of it for that vintage vibe!

Bee You by gonewiththewind

What a great scrap page. Her photos really pop here. Awesome shadow work too!

Just A LIttle Sleeping by LanaScrapDesign

Seriously, how precious is this? Brilliant use of the magnifying glass!!!

I love how everything is neutral except those few pops of color. Great use of stitching too!

Not Again by lockhart0_1

What a fantastic page! Love that the photo is the background and how it showcases his, um….artistic talents.

Star by Snaggletooth

This is just a stellar page. Gorgeous cluster work and I love that she used this kit to scrap her Drama Queen…lol!

Sweet Smile by josette31

This page just pops. Love her use of color and amazing layering. So much depth. Great shadows too!

Walk by RuthMelody

This page is just too flippin cool! Love everything about it!

What Makes Me Laugh by Tali

I love how she did her journaling….all the little tabs bound in the box. Very fun and charming page.

Finger Pointing (February 24)

24 Feb

Good morning!  This was my most challenging post to date.  I had waaaayyyy too many layouts to choose from.  The talent out there is astounding!

dana’s love letter no. 24  This layout has great flow.  Notice how the butterflies lead your eye from the bottom right corner to the top right.

emilymerritt’s Bowman’s Deli  I’m loving the tiny pops of color on a mostly black and white page.  Plus, I love the idea of scrapping your first job.

Hollie H’s Break Glass in Emergency  Wow…the graphic nature of this layout immediately grabs your attention and then the symbolism is fantastic.  This layout says a lot without much journaling, fabulous!

kateno4ek’s precious moment  Great photos, lovely layering and details and the double scallop around the edge is unique and eye catching.

kelleanne’s I heart my boy  I love the blocking on this layout.  Lots of photos, lots of pattern papers and journaling but it doesn’t feel too busy.  Great job!

lialotito’s A note for you  When you capture gorgeous catchlights in your subjects eyes like this photo, you don’t want a lot of distraction.  I adore the simplicity of this page where the highlight is the photo.

Rubia Padiha’s Belinha  Isn’t this sunny and fun?  The sun out of pattern paper is adorable and the font choice is perfect for the notebook feel of the background paper.

scarletsierra’s soak it up  I think I’m drawn to sunny fun layouts because there is still so much snow on the ground here.  I love the bright colors on the kraft background, the rounded corners of the photos and the title work is so cute.

shadesofbliss’s City Life  She’s created a very urban feel with muted colors and torn photos that compliments the title and feel of this page.

Finger Pointing (February 23)

23 Feb

Happy Tuesday everyone! Here are today’s stand out picks:

Gabi’s bedtime

I absolutely love the clean blocked design of this page. All the little details are perfect from the bits of stitching to the word strips to the whimsical text frame. Fantastic.

Photoscrapin’s Life

This page just POPS! The colors are stunning against the white background and the simple design really focuses the eye in on the photo. Amazing, amazing, page.

JenJ’s Marley Visits

This page is so fun! The design and all the little details are just perfect for this page. I love love how the journaling is spread out across the background and accented with alphas, word strips and cute elements. Super adorable.

flohbock’s SmileToLife

The first thing that captured me about this page was the fantastic fresh, sunny colors. They make me wish for spring! I love the text accents here and all the little bits and pieces are placed perfectly. Love it.

anacal’s Pretty

Well to take a clue from this layout’s title, this layout is so pretty! I just love the clean design with the pattern paper circles. The design is interesting while still being simple and clean. Fantastic.

bre11414’s Books

Who says white space heavy designs can’t still tell a story. I love the vertical design of this page and the way the white space balances the large block of text. The layering around the photo is fantastic as well. So beautiful.

nikkiARNGwife’s Unit Secretary

This page is so awesome. The design just pops and I love mixture of photos with the handdrawn elements. The way the journaling is scattered around the design is just perfect.

Carolee’s Cousins

This page is just fantastic. Great layering, great details, great clean design. Love it.

stampin_rachel’s bikini body vs. blizzard

So as someone who too is beginning her quest for a bikini body, I can SO relate to this page. (And no, I did not eat two  cookies over the course of writing this post…hehe). The design of this layout is so fun. I love the use of the handdrawn doodles to represent her struggle – they provide such a strong visual element. Super awesome layout.

Finger Pointing (February 21)

21 Feb

Well I have just spent a lovely couple of hours browsing the galleries trying to pick nine layouts to feature here! It was a tough choice today, here are my final choices, enjoy!

Working Hard by 1gr8muggle

Such fabulous photography here, there’s something so very intimate and touching about this series of little hands busy at work. The simple composition is perfect to focus on the great pics and the blue border pulls it all together wonderfully.

Modern art is cool by blurooferika

Now, this is JUST my sort of subject matter! Perfect choice of font for the title and the daubes of paint (cleverly constructed from photos of the artwork) and the palette on the shelf are wonderful little touches. (Part of a double page spread, the second half is here.)

sweet little memories by gonewiththewind

Such a pretty page – lovely colours, lovely processing on the photo and wonderful shadow work.

Confessions of an internet addict by JenniferBarrette

Hhhhm, I am sure many of us can relate to this subject! Such a well composed design here and the touches of colour are handled so well. Fabulous.

Obession? by Lizzy257

A great fun page documenting a little boy’s love for all things Thomas the Tank engine! This is a lovely way to record these memories to look back on when the not-so-little boy has moved on to another collection / obsession!

Happiness by marto_gal_30

Ahh, this is an aptly titled page – just looking at the beautiful soft colours and clean crisp composition makes me very happy! Beautiful work.

Lemontree by Scrappy Smile

There are loads of pages using this kit in the galleries at the moment and I agonised over which one to feature here. I chose this one in the end because of the wonderful use of the strongly patterned paper and the great layering and shadowing. It’s really striking and perfectly composed.

Paint in Colors by Tinker Betty

More paint! :) This is really lovely, so soft and pretty and springlike. Great extraction and a fun little scene. And lots of yummy paint.

I Broke My Butt by ValorieW

Any layout entitled, “I broke my butt” pretty much commands a closer look! LOL Such fun titlework (especially the little rope circle in place of the “o”) and I love the photo and the filter used here. I hope ‘the butt’ feels better soon!

Finger Pointing (Feb 20)

20 Feb

How is your weekend going? I hope to give you a scrapping start with what I’ve found in the galleries. Enjoy!

Strolling Together by alb52

*sigh* That teeny tiny photo up there, just the sweetest thing. And I love how she twisted the wordart just a little nudge to make it seem handwritten.

friends by dana

True friends having fun together. Love how the red and yellow from the photo are flowing over to the rest of the elements, fun page!

Yeah Team! by Di-ahh

Love this, I can imagine the Yeah!!!, the excitement he must’ve gone through. A page with energy!

Buddies by Kelleanne

The titlework is just fabulous! The mix of the alphas, going from edge to edge, love it!

Serenity by kinun

Here the combination of the stamps with the patterned paper is such a bold move! And she rocked it! Great vertical design too!

Favorite season by Luciana Orikassa

Love love love this, so happy, colorful and cute. I also love how she placed the journaling in it’s own space.

Mr. Big by whatnext

Wonderful! the subtle blending, the multiple layers of paper, the simple title, fabulous|!

Spring by tiramisu

This is so cool! Having the photo peek behind from a teared up paper. Gorgeous!

Tape Agony by Tracyfish

OMG can you remember these? They were my most precious possessions every time I managed to fill one with my favorite songs. Hours of work just to have 60 or 90 minutes of music LOL Fun journaling on the notepaper and seriously rocking the layering of the swirls and stars, this is a fab page!
