Finger Pointing – February 20th

I’m so excited here with our Carnaval  (started last friday and ends on Fat Tuesday).
Carnaval is the most famous holiday in Brazil and has become an event of huge proportions.
The country stops completely for almost a week and festivities are intense, day and night, mainly in coastal cities.
Almost everyone has heard of the Rio Carnaval. Foreign visitors to it alone number around 500,000 every year.
Some traditional Carnaval street blocks or “Blocos” ,like we call them here, attracts more than 2,000,000 people (YES!!!!) to downtown like the “Galo da Madrugada” in Recife
and the “Cordão do Bola Preta” in Rio.

I finally leave the “samba” aside and get a good look round the galleries, I hope you enjoy my picks:
