I hope you are enjoying wonderful weather like we’re having here in Minnesota today. It’s pretty quiet around the neighborhood right now and I’m guessing it’s because everyone is resting up after a day of picnics, parades and fireworks. I have enjoyed the last few hours browsing the galleries in search of today’s standouts. Here are the six that I chose for today. I hope you like them as much as I do. Remember that you can click on either the name of the page or the image and go to the gallery to leave the artist a comment.
I Sing In My Car by zwyck. As soon as I saw this in the gallery, I knew it was going to be one of my choices today! I love the image, the colors and the brush work on this page! I have to admit that I have a hard time placing banners on a page, so I’m totally impressed at the placement of the one on this page! And, of course, the journaling was just the icing on the cake!
Failure by nietis. The title of this page in the thumbnail index drew me in and I’m glad it did. The journaling is such an amazing blend of reflection on the past and hope for the future! I love the composition with it’s horizontal grouping of elements and title. And the grunged-up look and brush work are perfect for the subject.
O Sole Mio by flohbock.1971. I have to admit it, I smiled really big when I saw this in the gallery. I love the white space which sets off the photo and elements to perfection! The touch of brush work behind the photo makes everything really stand out.
A Small Fisherman by Dady. What a beautiful composition by one of my favorite artists! The soft colors are beautiful, the out-of-bounds and spill-over technqiues are perfect for the image, and the brush work adds just the right touch to complete the page. I also love how the small border at the bottom draws your eyes upwards to the image.
All-American Boy and His All-American Dog by readstoomuch. A perfect page with a wonderful story! I am an avid genealogist and when I see heritage-style layouts, I study them closely. The colors complement the photo perfectly and the elements are the perfect enhancement for the page. I love the brush work and the stitches too! And, OK, I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for photos that are stapled!
heatwave sunset by AlinaLove. Wow, gorgeous photos! I love the large photo with the layered papers as mats, the placement of the journaling and accent photos (and what awesome photo clusters!) and the addition of the journaling strips. The map background paper and the awesome title work are the perfect finishing touches!
That’s it for today. Again, I hope you are inspired by these pages and that you will visit the galleries and leave comments on not only these pages but some of the other amazing pages too.
