Happy weekend everyone! And oh my, have you all been busy filling the galleries with such fine pieces! As the nights are drawing in here in the UK, it appears I’ve gone through the galleries tonight with a longing of hot, summer colours and striking artistry and I wasn’t disappointed! Here’s what popped in the galleries for me tonight.
Now I love a pink, grey and black colour combination so Imperfect by breakingbrie had me at hello! The lovely large photo with wonderful white space is supported by some really pretty patterned paper and large arrow brushes then beautifully adorned with lots of delicious layers. I like how the word art strips direct the eye around the page to the oodles of wonderful detail, the gold splatters here and there add delicate interest and the one liner journaling finish this page off perfectly!
Photo clusters are a smashing way to get a super fun series of photo’s on one page in a neat fashion just like Katie Pertiet created on her Something Wonderful page. I love the page design here. The watery, painted backdrop adds lovely contrast to the page and I particularly like the linear format of the photo cluster with some special journaling, sandwiched between the doodled frames, following suit on the left with the title work nestled beautifully in between. A great page filled with boundless energy!
I have to admit I’ve spent a lot of time tonight looking at my next pick! There’s lots of glorious detail to absorb in The World is but a Canvas by amymallory. I really like the structure of this page with the photo duplicated in the blend and all the artsy elements. The circular detail reflecting the title of this page is genius while the pop of red and yellow adds a punch and that little one word label in the centre is just so perfectly understated. This page is eye candy, for sure!
Staying with the artsy for a moment, I love all the colour and range of elements that EllenT has captured on her page entitled It’s OK. The brushwork, splatters and light grunge together with black and white photo, so fabulously treated, add terrific drama and I love all those delightful scribbles and great word art. Fabulous!
The Story by Isa Marks is a beautiful mix of interesting blending and layers. Again, great page design with the main cluster of gorgeous layers low and off centre. I like the almost vintage look here with the muted tones that almost resemble autumnal colours. And I love the pretty border up top with the title of the page stamped top left. Such a pretty page!
I always admire travel/cityscape pages because I find them rather challenging to do! I was really intrigued by the gallery thumbnail of Rotterdam by jumlai and couldn’t help but take a closer look. I like how the backdrop implies the sky and grass with a little of grunge to add interest, how the little doodles draw the eye to the main photo and how that photo is housed so beautifully in the mask and highlighted with the brush work that looks like part of a heart shape. A pretty little cluster anchored by the fasteners and the blended postage stamp and post mark are perfect! Totally gorgeous!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my picks for today. If you have a moment or two, please visit the pages by clicking on the links and leave a comment or two for the artists. I hope you’re also inspired to document a story or two of your own – I’d love to see you in the galleries! Till next time, enjoy the rest of the weekend and take care!
