Hi everyone, I hope you’re having an enjoyable weekend! I’ve spent some time meandering through the galleries to bring you my picks for today and I’m a little late with this post so I won’t keep you any longer… let’s take a look!

The vibrant mix of colours attracted my attention to I’ve Got This by gonewiththewind. I love the horizontal design and use of colour in different forms here, the strips of colour, the embellishments and the splatters, all grounded perfectly by the darker shade of brown/black. The layering is beautifully done in such a way that the black and white photo shines through and the word strips compliment the journaling tag and add great interest. A lovely piece of work!

Recital by Blackkathy is another fine example of superb layering. Again, I love the colour combination here, the gentle backdrop and blended edges, and the photo spanning the three frames, with the main features of the face contained in the middle frame, works so well. The dainty elements are the perfect addition, maintaining the pretty, feminine look of the page. The title work is balanced with the size of the top photo frame and the little barcoded tag had me at hello! Such a pretty page!

I’m always intrigued by layouts that began as a template and little characteristics of the artists style have been added to create something unique. Love This by tracermajig is one of those masterpieces and I love how the template has been changed up, swapping some of the elements for a more personal page. Yet another fabulous colour combination with the broad border and gorgeous contrasting colours largely housed in the cut out in the form of such pretty patterned paper. Carefully chosen layers provide a base for the pretty photo, centre stage and the split text frame finishes this layout off beautifully.  Just gorgeous!

Staying with colour combinations for a moment, Poetry Contest by norton94 makes use of a more unusual mix. The greens, blues and yellows make a bold statement while still allowing the photo’s to be the highlight of the page. I like the stitched frame that focuses the eye on all the detail and again, there’s a great mix of layers, strips, blocks and circles while the triangle banner and semi circle banners add a celebratory feel to the page, complimenting the nature of the title and journaling. A terrific page and great use of elements!

Some of my favourite designs are the totally clean and simple ones which I often find are the most difficult to create! Often, the simplicity blows me away like You by AnnePC. The small patterned backdrop is a great choice here, the title work has been kept simple and to the point and the super cute photo really steals the show! A fabulous understated layout that packs such a punch!

I always enjoy finding ways in which others have used their art for different purposes. readstoomuch created August as a wallpaper for her desktop for the month! I love the blended framing and mask that have been used to reveal the sweet photo and how clever is the list of birthdays and little calendar card?! So not only does readstoomuch have the pleasure of seeing this little girls delightful face, she has the calendar and important days to hand! I love this idea and I’m really keen to try this myself! A stellar idea so beautifully executed!
