I’ve had such a lovely day today – a full day of shopping with my sister then coming home to check out the galleries! I haven’t had much time to scrap lately but I always enjoy catching up with everyone else’s layouts, making mental notes of great inspiration and design so now I just have to get the household chores done in a jiffy tomorrow so I have some time to create! In the meantime, let’s take a look at some gorgeousness that I found today.
I was drawn to the super design of Grateful for You by huyentrang43 and on closer inspection I noticed the great shadowing of the patterned paper backdrop which, together with the pretty clusters, adds great dimension. I love the pretty colours that compliment the black and white photo so beautifully, the word art and the wired title work is perfect. Finished off with the sprinkling of sequins, this layout is so cute!
So Totally Awesome by DivaMom96 is a smashing example of a great mix of brushwork. I love the choice of brushes here and how they all work so well together. I also like the two tone colour combination with the black and white photo, and how the circular word art mirrors the title. The little layered cluster adds a perfect amount of detail to this understated and classy page!
I love a page that really proves the ‘less is more’ concept. Madrid by NAdams has highlighted the hustle and bustle of a city in her Madrid page, with her perfect choice of a blendable, brushwork and some simple elements that coordinate beautifully with the story of the page. I love the perspective of the shot – with a great leading line! Again, great shadowing on the twist and I love the drama that the heavier ink splatter provides. A lovely layout!
mrphoto has used a great selection of layers on Birthday Girl. Pretty patterns of coordinating colours make a super base for the gorgeous photo while the delicate clusters, similar in their content, add lovely continuity to the design. I love how the journaling, so lovely to read, is balanced perfectly with the title work while the splatters add playfulness. A super, neat page!
I spent the early part of this past week in Stockholm and experienced the first proper snowfall of the season this year. I’d forgotten how pretty the white stuff can look, how it is so crisp underfoot but also how daunting it can be, watching snow fall all day, knowing you’ve a flight to catch home that evening! Full credit to SAS though, we were only an hour and 20 late taking off. Anyhow, I love how Djp332 has captured the inherent weather conditions of a colder climate with a lovely series of photo’s on her page entitled Blizzard. I love the large and colourful title and the pretty colour combination that has become popular for all things snowy in recent years. The coordinating flowers lead the eye around the page and the glitter snowflakes and little sprigs of pine are the perfect finishing touch. Gorgeous!
It only seems right that after a snowy page, I move onto a Christmas one! Be Joyful by amandac showcases super use of word art, word strips and a couple of embellishments to create a visual tree while a pretty festive wreath provides the perfect frame for her lovely photo. Adorned with a few more festive elements and a stitched and ‘snowy’ border, this is a terrific seasonal page!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my picks for today. If you get a moment, please click on the links above and leave a comment or two for the artists. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the weekend and take care. Bye bye!
