Happy Saturday! I hope you’re all doing something you enjoy… like scrapping of course, although from the galleries, I reckon you’ve all been doing a lot of that already! I’ve got so much stuff on my to do list but I’m itching to fire up Lightroom and Photoshop and lose myself in a little creativity. But before I do that, let me show you some amazing work that I found in the galleries today.

I always admire scrappers who have mixed media down to a fine art. #selfie by Ferdy is an amazing example of this scrapping style. I love the rainbow of colours that grace the page and the range of brushwork and elements, like the little diamanté stars, pocket card and balloons, that add to the fun. Great shadowing of a couple of torn papers and the cute banner up top add depth to the page and I like that the selfie (a great one by the way!) is anchored down with two staples, messy stitching and the cute flair. Terrific!

I love the boldness of One Cranky Girl by Southernmother and the sassiness of the photo, backed up by a riot of colour!  There’s a cracking range of elements here – the chevron strips, flower mix, ribbon, printed labels, brushwork, stitching, the little coffee cup… and check those little stars – all brought together in such a cohesive way that the layout just flows! I seriously love this!

I see I’ve got a bit of a colour run (and coffee) weaving through my post tonight as I indulge a little further with MelitaBloomer’s layout entitled Don’t Dull Your Shine. An unusual colour palette of sage green and terracotta looks amazing with the sweet black and white image! I love how the black brushwork and colour masks on the backdrop ground the super detail which is so beautifully shadowed. So, so wonderful!

Moving on to some softer tones is Just the way you are by Scrapalily. I love the design of this layout, the florals that nestle alongside the sweet photo and the angular papers that are all shadowed perfectly. Tucked under the larger floral cluster is some delicate brushwork, a pretty doily and a little heart – all adding to the gentleness of this page. Finished off with a little flower and label cluster bottom left, this is just adorable!

One of my favourite topics to scrap is, quite simply, the ordinary, everyday stuff. Keep Cup by Shannamay captures an everyday moment perfectly with a message in her journaling about being kind to the environment. I love the soft neutrals of this and how the pretty ribbon wraps around the photo like a gift. And check out the title work on the little coffee cup tag! A great example of an everyday moment – and a cute keep cup – scrapped so beautifully!

A la Plage by meriop brought to mind a recent blog post of mine about one of my favourite beaches and the sound of ‘nothingness’. I love the simplicity of this and how I can imagine the sound of the waves on the shore, the echoes of children playing in the distance and the feeling of being free. The plain paper strips compliment the scene in the photo while a little word art and a cute charm finish off the page. Gorgeous!

I do hope you’ve enjoyed my picks for today. When you get a chance, please click on the links above and leave the artists a comment or two. Till next time, enjoy the rest of the weekend, take care and happy scrapping!
