Some may say the 13th day of the month is unlucky… but not for me today because I got to cruise the galleries! I’m loving all the creativity out there, the Autumn/Fall pages, the cute and the beautiful, the artsy and the abstract, the ‘loving life’ and ‘this is hard’ pages. And amongst them all, from all corners of the world, let’s take a look at what popped for me today!
Peggy’s Cove by Amy L is a mix of gorgeous blending, a gently shadowed cluster and great sticker alpha title work. I love little fishing villages and this one, captured by Amy in Nova Scotia, looks so quaint! I like the pops of teal here, the text line that flows with the torn paper and the peep of watery red border to the bottom . So beautiful!
I’ve got a soft spot for geometrics, monotones, white space and a super sweet photo taken in the most gorgeous soft light – I mean what more does a girl want?! You’ll then see how I’m Nuts about You by barbaraj indulges me totally! I love the repetition of not only the geometric shapes, beautifully shadowed, but the mix of papers that add great detail. All this, laid on the lightly patterned backdrop, with a couple of pops of mustard yellow and some perfectly stacked word art, makes for a stunner of a page!
One thing I enjoy using in my own work is super large page titles. My Wish 4 You by Ellasspace is a fine example of large alpha title work (an awesome alpha too!) – I love how each part of the title stands proud and makes way for the pretty black and white photo’s to be casually placed over the two remaining ‘blocks’ of the design. There’s so much fabulously bold colour and pretty detail here, the lovely clusters forming a visual triangle that always works in my view, and such great shadowing that I want to reach out and touch this! Absolutely gorgeous!
Moving onto softer tones is Nostalgic by TeaWithLemon. I love the energy in the sweet, fun photo’s and a super mix of dainty elements compliment them beautifully. A gorgeous textured backdrop and lovely soft brushwork allow the bolder detail of the page to shine and I love the contrast that the black elements provide. Finished off with the sweet cluster bottom right and that oh so gorgeous word art and journaling, this is just wonderful!
I’m a lover of ‘keeping it real’ pages – even more so if they’re brimming with amazing detail like Create Your Own Sunshine by tracermajig. The only project I’ve done in portrait style is a Days of December album a few years ago and this page now makes me question why I don’t use this format more often! I love the masking that lies to the back of the page design with the orange splatters and scribbles – and how it provides oodles of space for the terrific journaling. The strong colour combination easily stands up to the power of the black and white image and it goes without saying how much I love the florals here, so neatly placed along with the doilies and other perfectly chosen elements that add all the finer detail. Terrific!
It only seems fitting to finish with an Autumn/Fall page! Love by HappyMamacita ticks all the boxes, the muted tones of the backdrop, the terrific cascade of leaves – cut outs and layered, the flowers and berries and the Autumnal tones in the pretty image! This has to be my favourite Autumn/Fall page of the season so far! A delight for the eyes, for sure!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my picks for today and that you’re inspired to see where your creativity takes you this week!
