I can’t believe I’ve just typed the word ‘September’… this has to be the fastest year by far and as I checked out the galleries today, I saw some Autumnal pages are already starting to call the end of Summer. Wait, wait, I’m not quite ready for Autumn despite it being my favourite season! Still, time waits for no man so I best get a wiggle on and share my standouts for today with you.
I love the Summer tones in Sweetest Moment by Arte Banale. Beautifully layered, the synergy of the yellows and greens is gorgeous, the florals, both blended and sticker, are exquisite and the word art is perfect. So many different elements have been effortlessly brought together here to create oodles of interest on this stunning page!
You by Isa Marks is another example of terrific layers and shadows. I love the offset border and the minimalistic colour combination with its pops of colour that still allows the black and white image to shine. There’s also great texture and depth to this layout and I love those little dragonflies! So beautiful!
I often find the projects that stand out for me are those containing some form of the creativity process that I’m not skilled in using myself, like blending (always a challenge for me) or using primary colours – I struggle with the typical ‘back to school’ colours – and a shade that I very rarely use in my own work is lilac. But… I love Explore by Dady! The soft lilac tones, the blending and the perspective of the photo, the brush work, the broad top border and the pretty florals come together to create this masterpiece! Absolutely gorgeous!
Let Your Heart Sing by EllenT showcases a beautiful contrast of colours as the pretty elements and brush work dance from top to bottom of the page. The image is nestled on a few softly coloured paper layers and the dark brush work and title work provide great contrast. I love the romanticism of this!
Another example of some mighty fine brush work is Time for a Haircut by caliten. I love the arrangement here – it reminds me of a bottle of champagne being popped – and the images and a couple of tucked in elements provide the colour pop. A terrific ‘girl’ layout!
My final pick for today is Frame It by TrishD. This project is so cleverly put together that I’m not actually sure if the image is a single image with spot colouring or if the young girl is an extraction that’s masterfully blended with the framed image. Either way, I love the colour pop against the sketch of a backdrop and the energy that is evident in the young girl’s stance. Absolutely fabulous!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my picks for today. When you have a moment, please click on the links above and leave a comment or two for the artists. Till next time, happy scrapping and I’ll see you in the galleries!
