Finger Pointing – September 29th

Happy Tuesday, friends!  Heidi Nicole here, enjoying a glass of wine as I peruse the creative and inspiring galleries.  With DSD on the horizon, it helps to have just an extra dash of inspiration in our lives!

Here’s my picks for today…

cityscapes by Bahtoy

This is a beautiful piece of art.  I love the grungy feel the sketches lend to the page.  The technique on the photo of the bean is really amazing, and those labels are spot on!  The vertical title helps draw your eye to the photo, as well as that awesome sketched arrow.  So well put together!

I Miss Me by RoxanaTc

The first thing that drew me to this page are the word strips.  I love that the word ‘find’ is a different color.  It really clarifies the feel of the page.  The grunginess lends to the emotion of the piece, and the shadowing on that butterfly is absolutely amazing.  The scatters and the loveliness on the edge of the page balances this white space layout perfectly.  I love it all… and I know we can all relate!

Kindle by Ferdy

This page is so striking!  I love the black and white combo with that awesome pop of color.  This is a simple, yet so interesting page.  It documents time and activity, and will be something she will always be able to look back on.  The use of the word art is super awesome… as well as the page design.  She used just enough paper elements that needed shadowed to add the perfect dimension.  Love it all!

Love These Sweet Memories by bonnenuit

This is a heart warming, sweet, sentimental piece.  The lovely photo is clearly the focus, and the journaling is absolutely wonderful.  The quote anchors the page, and the minimal elements scattered throughout are beautiful touches.  I find something else I love every time I look at it!

I’ll be honest here…  sometimes I look at fancy background paper and have no clue what to do with it…  well…  take a look at this beauty!  She transformed this fun paper into an entire, unique, super cool layout.  I am digging it for sure.  I love the minimal elements and the sweet quote.  I’m such a fan of black and white with fun pops of color.  It’s striking and beautiful and whimsical all at the same time!  Bravo!

What a fun and exciting way to create a multi-photo layout!  I am loving the stitching and all the super fun emojis on the photos.  The faux polaroid-esque frames add dimension and interest.  It’s such a fun layout for our lives nowadays… and it definitely deserves some props!

I hope these sparked some inspiration for you all… and remember, go show these ladies some love!  I hope all of you have a wonderful DSD weekend and, yes, I hope you get a ton of goodies! Much love to you all <3

Finger Pointing – September 2nd

Hi there, friends!  Heidi Nicole here, enjoying a day off, coffee, my cats, Friends reruns, Photoshop, and the galleries…. kinda perfect, eh?

It’s so hard to believe it’s September.  I sometimes have a hard time saying goodbye to summer, but this summer hasn’t lived up to its name in my world, so I am super excited about fall.  I’ve already decorated, my fall candles are burning, and I’ve enjoyed a Pumpkin Creme Cold Brew from Starbucks… so, I’m all in.  Anyone else feel the same?

Regardless, I have been super inspired by looking through the galleries… and I am looking forward to creating a little something today!  I hope my picks inspire you just the same…

time flies by Amandaresende

I couldn’t pass this layout by… I mean look at that puppers!  I love photos that show how time has passed.  This page has so much to offer.  Of course, your eyes are automatically drawn to the photos, but all the ink and stamps in the background add such interest and depth.  I love the choice of the diagonal background paper, and the shadowing is perfect!  The little details are where it’s at, and this is such a stunner.

Radiant by Wagsmom

There is so much to love about this layout!  The large photo is so perfect… it documents so much!  And, what a beauty!  The descriptive word strips add to the journaling and do such a great job of telling the story.  The addition of the paint around the photo, the awesome title, and the lovely choice of elements all add to the prettiness of the page.  Such a well put together layout!

Snap Shots by Ellasspace

No doubt that the large wonderful title caught my eye on this one.  Those photos are perfect for the page, and the elements that were chosen are just spot on.  I particularly love that pewter camera in the center!  The paint spatters and the little tiny crystal scatter in the background add a beautiful dimension.  Lovely shadowing and a heartfelt quote complete the page.  Makes my heart warm!

Stronger Than I Feel… by dotcomkari

You know those layouts that elicit a strong emotional reaction?  Well, this one hit me deep… There is so much emotion, feeling, and heart that was put into this art journaling layout, you can’t help but feel it.  Of course, the techniques she used are spot on… the layout is balanced, the colors are amazing, and the use of ink and shadows are interesting and perfectly executed.  I think we all have felt this way… and it’s such a lovely and therapeutic way to document it.

Currently Kallie by michele hillam

The title in this project says it all!  Documenting our ‘current stuff’ and everyday shenanigans can be so fun… and she did a great job documenting in this layout.  The photos, the quotes on the word strips,  the sweet circle tag that states her age, and that fabulous vertical design all come together in such a balanced and pleasing way.  The way she chose the elements to cascade down the page is so creative… and I know this page will be fun to look back on years down the road.

Happy by umyesh

There is so much yumminess in this beach page… I don’t even know where to start!  The first thing that caught my eye was the paint in the background that resembles beach and sky, with that fun newspaper print added in.  It truly anchors all the other awesome creativity that’s happening here.  The photos, of course, are wonderful, and the extra frames add such interest.  The big camera in the foreground, together with the quotes, brings perspective to the page.  The simple, large title and those sweet birds balance everything out.  I just can’t get enough of this!

I hope these layouts inspire you as much as they inspired me!  If you click on the title of each layout it will take you right to these lovely pages and you can comment and share the love <3

Have a great day and enjoy all the moments!

Finger Pointing – August 18th

Hey there, friends!  It’s a cool, stormy afternoon here in Norther Kentucky… perfect for going through inspiring galleries with a hot cup of coffee.  It’s nice to have a place to go that’s positive, inspiring, and a constant in our lives.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, our creative community is like family, and we are so blessed to have one another.

That being said, I’ve found some beautiful pages to share today.  And, as always, I hope they spark joy and bring a little sunshine to your day!  Head over to the galleries and share some love!

Snaps by Taniarene

The first thing that drew me into this page is that incredibly fun photo!  Action shots like this are just priceless, and I love that it truly is the focal point of the page.  The second thing is that amazing journaling job…  Not only does it tell the story, but it acts as an anchor to the page.  It brings balance and a bit of whimsy.  The rest of the page lends itself to the ‘social’ scene, and brings continuity to the page.  So fun and well done!

Hippy at Heart by Geek_girl

This page is delightful, from the design, to the colors, to the awesome shadowing.  Can we just take a moment to appreciate the half circle photo?  It’s quite perfect.  It’s balanced, simple, and just lovely.  The placement of the potted plants and leaves is brilliant… as well as those stamps!  Again, the shadowing is spot on, and the title on the journal strip is the perfect touch.  Every little detail comes together effortlessly…  and I’m here for it!

Nervous Grama by Crazsquaw

I think a lot of us can relate to this nervous grama… and I love that we are, as a whole, documenting our feelings throughout this pandemic… and starting school for our littles sparks a lot of feelings right now.  This page is an absolute standout.  The face photos of the grands, and all the word strips totally convey the feelings and questions surrounding this moment.  The colors pop off that black and white background, and the grungy feel lends itself to the theme.

Birthday Two by wvsandy

The first thing I noticed about this page is that the film strips don’t all have a single photo in them.  She cleverly used some larger photos and some individual photos.  Such a fun detail that adds so much interest and expression into the page!  The minimal elements were a great choice with the use of all the photos… as well as the white background.  It’s easy to focus on that adorable little girl!  The title work is ‘icing on the cake’, if you will… and happy birthday to this little lady!

We Are All Connected by CharlotteM

The photo technique in this page is absolutely brilliant.  The background photo technique adds perfect texture… and the extraction on the photo in the foreground is expert level.  Of course, since the photos are so amazing in this layout, she made the perfect decision to use minimal elements.  The word strips are a clever way to title the page, without taking any kind of focus away from the photos.  Such an incredible inspiration…

Trust The Journey by mywisecrafts

This one is stunningly unique… the photo of the sea turtle is blended so patiently and perfectly.  The time and love put into this page is absolutely evident.  While you may at first think that the gorgeous sea turtle is the star of the page… I urge  you to read every word of her heartfelt and encouraging journaling.  The grungy additions to this page are effortless, and the small scatter adds just enough depth.  This is just a jaw dropping page!

I hope these pages encourage, inspire, and strengthen you all… I appreciate each and every one of you!

Finger Pointing – August 2nd

Hey there, creative friends!  Heidi Nicole here, enjoying a beautiful evening in Northern Kentucky.  It was such a beautiful day to be outside, and we took advantage!  It’s so hard to believe August is here… school is starting, summer is winding down, and we are still navigating through some tough stuff in our world.

Again, I can always count on my creative community to bring a smile to my face… and here’s what I found looking through the galleries this afternoon…

Retake082020IC by Another Amanda

This is such a fun page!  Outtakes of photo shoots can be so stinkin’ cute… and these do not disappoint!  I love the black and white photos leading up to the in color photo.  Such a clever way to tell the story in photos.  The stamps lend a grungy feel, and the journaling tells the story perfectly.  The stitching and staples are a great detail, without overpowering the photos… and I just can’t stop smiling at that little face!

Aug Inspiration Challenge by dbregant

The first thing that caught my eye on this beauty, is that awesome, colorful cluster in the top left.  I just love every little thing about it!  As I looked at this page, I was struck by the spot on shadowing, and the incredible balance of the page.  The slight tilt to the journaling adds so much interest, and what a great thing to document!  I love all the little details that come together to create such a wonderful page…

Merry & Bright by RoxanaTc

I do love a Christmas in July page!  This one is just outstanding.  It flows so effortlessly across the page… The red and white twine, along with all the fun background stamps add interest, texture, and flow.  The little cluster on the right is the perfect addition to balance out this fun Christmas page!  It’s a treat for your eyes!

Things I’m Not Lazy At by Mrivas2181

First of all, how funny is this list?!  This white space layout is so cute…  the photo is adorable, the journaling is front and center, and the elements and bits and bobs are perfectly placed.  The tags coming down from the top and the journal strip at the bottom are great touches to add that sweet balance and design… and the shadowing is expert level!

Life is 100% Fun by Ga_L

Well that title says it all!  This layout screams summer and it immediately brought me joy!  I love the black and white photos and the bright journal cards, papers, and elements.  The stitching brings it all together…  love it all!

I Love Coffee by ClaireG

This one is near and dear to my heart…  because I also, LOVE coffee!  The big title is lovely, the coffee cup stain stamps are perfect, and the use of stitches and a paper clip is clever.  The journaling may tell the story, but that selfie is freaking awesome!  How cute!  I love it all and it comes together effortlessly…  yay for coffee!

My hope is that these layouts brought a smile to your face and joy to your heart.  Have a fabulous week, friends!

Finger Pointing – July 6th

Good afternoon, friends!  Heidi Nicole here, enjoying a beautiful (HOT) day in Northern Kentucky.  I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July here in the states!  This season may not be how we all imagined it, but we are making the best of it, no matter where in the world you are.

That being said… I hope to brighten up your Monday with some gorgeous picks from the galleries…  and here they are!

Enjoy Every Minute – 4th of July by BarbaraUnzen

I love layouts with large background photos, and this one does not disappoint!  The way she brought forward the texture of the background paper in the photo is spot on.  It adds depth, texture, and interest.  Adding the photos in the foreground completes the story of the fun time that was had.  The minimal elements, along with that sunshine, adds the perfect touch to the page.  This is just the perfect summer layout!

Snapshots by Lady22

This darling layout, is well, darling.  I love the white space and the lightly textured background.  The photo of that adorable kitty is front and center, and your eye is automatically drawn to it.  The vertical line down the center adds balance and lends to making the photo the focal point.  I love the sweet little flower and the heart stamp, which is all the elements this page requires.  Such a sweet page!

Shine Bright by Renate

I found myself taking the time to look at all the little details of this fun page… and there are a lot of sweet details that are perfect design choices!  First of all, that photo is adorable, and I love that she used it twice.  The cutouts in the background paper really pop with the patterned paper beneath.  Not only that, but to add word strips in the cutouts is genius!  The subtle circle elements throughout the page helps to balance those super awesome clusters… that are shadowed perfectly.  There’s so much lovely in this layout… and I keep finding more!

Remember This by Scrappie Irene

I had to add a 4th of July layout in here!  This layout is stunning.  Such a unique ‘pocket style’ take.  The stitches are messy, and the ink/paint makes it a touch grungy… yet totally patriotic.  Black and white photos were a great choice here, and really makes the red and blue elements stand out.  I LOVE that the CocaCola bottle is red!  Great photo work.  And, can I just say… what a lovely young lady!  This is such a thoughtful and creative layout… and it makes my heart happy!

ec by marnel

This is another perfectly summer layout.  Beach layouts are beyond fun… and this one is outstanding!  I love the grid feel of the page, and her use of masks is spot on.  It creates such a relaxed feel to the page.  That large sun is a great design choice, as well as the scatter and the word strips.  I’m sure this layout elicits a lot of memories for all of us who have hung out on beaches, and I’m sure these two young men will remember these memories for a lifetime!

Just Keep Floating by cestlafranz

This beautifully created hybrid layout stopped me in my tracks.  Every single detail is well thought out and executed.  I admire hybrid artists, and this project is wonderful.  The photos are perfect – relaxing and summery.  The white background makes the turquoise colors pop.  The larger title balances the two photos and the journaling tells the story.  I’m posting the layout and all the details…  drool on, friends!

That’s it for today!  I hope every single one of you have a great Monday… and stay happy and healthy!

Finger Pointing – June 29th

Good evening, friends!  Heidi Nicole here, perusing the galleries and enjoying some peace and quiet after a busy day at work.

I hope this finds all of you happy and healthy as we continue to find our way through 2020…  I still believe that this creative community has kept me grounded through all of this.  Even if you are struggling to find that creativity, or even if you don’t have the time you once did because of all the changes…  it’s a comfort to know that our creative friends and family are still here and will still bring a smile to your face!

…and speaking of smiles…  I hope my picks this evening spark some joy!

Hope by AZK

This immediately caught my eye in the gallery… It’s a beautiful and priceless piece of art.  Such a wonderful amount of expression and emotion wrapped up in this page.  The vibrant colors are perfect, the shadows on the clusters are amazing, and the quote just completes the entire page.  The vertical text balances and speaks volumes.  Just be kind – such sage advice for the times we are living in.

March Walks by Taniarene

I am always drawn to black and white with pops of color.  She did a remarkable job at establishing a grungy page with all the ink on the background, yet keeping such a lighthearted feel to the page.  The bright colors offset the starkness of the black and white, and the different layers and textures she has managed to create are absolutely perfect!  The page is balanced and presents such a thoughtful design.  Bravo!

The Real Boss by akizo

This one definitely made me smile!  I love the balance between the large photo and the large title/text.  It’s so unique!  The ability to mix and match all the straight lines and the whimsy of the doodled arrows and crown is noteworthy.  The small, minimal elements lends themselves perfectly to the feel of the page…  and look at that photo!  Those cuties are sure to make you smile!

Endless Summer by sucali

I couldn’t help but pick this super summery, super bright, and super cheery page!  I love the hexagons in the background – all the patterns and colors add such interest to a white space layout.  The minimal elements were thoughtfully chosen and expertly placed.  That perfect ribbon, front and center, is shadowed to perfection.  All and all… such a fun, summery page full of joy!

Ordinary Days by Kat

Okay… so, if you know me at all, you know I’m a sucker for white space layouts… and I was immediately drawn to this one.  I LOVE the two tone white space effect.  It adds so much interest, without taking away the fact that it’s a white space!  The stitching is lovely and adds a bit of texture to the background.  The vertical feel of the design makes it easy to see every little piece of this layout.  Just lovely… and that doggo is SUPER CUTE!

This is the Place by tammybean004

There is so much about this page that I fell in love with!  It’s the exact opposite of a white space… and has inspired me to use the full extent of the page in the future!  The design is so clever… the two black and white photos… the flowers and trinkets… the ink and the word strips… the journaling and use of the journal cards…  all works so well individually in each rectangle, yet comes together in this fantastic full picture!  I can’t really get enough.  Do yourself a favor and take some time to really look at this beauty.  It’s pretty much magical!

I hope you all enjoyed my picks for the evening… and let’s keep on keepin’ on, friends!

We’re all in this together!  <3

Finger Pointing – May 30th

Hey everyone!  Heidi Nicole here enjoying a beautiful Saturday here in Northern Kentucky…  Things are starting to seem a little more ‘normal’ around here, and I am overjoyed at the thought… I am hoping for all of you the same joy!

Here’s my creative picks for the day…

Coffee at Home by Kate.makes

This is a stunning work of white space.  I LOVE the sweet little hearts bordering the photo and journaling, and the hearts up in the corner balance the page so nicely.  The split photo and minimal elements work perfectly in this piece.

Beach Bliss by Sharonbertolino

This took my breath away.  The way she chose to make the background photo look like a painting and then add the elements at the forefront is genius.  The clustering of the elements and perfect shadowing come together to make this a wonderful, peaceful, and perfect layout.  Takes me right there to the sea…

Calmness by KarenB

Another white space page that demands credit… it’s stunning.  The shadowing particularly is outstanding.  I love that the title is ‘Calm’ and the layout itself lends itself the a calming feeling.  The way the photos are stitched together is a wonderful little detail that just adds to the whole feel.  Just a beautiful page!

Things of Nature by A J M

First of all, the filter on the photo is spot on for this page.  The layers and depth of the mushrooms and the layered elements come together flawlessly.  It’s just such a beautiful way to spotlight the photo and the nature that surrounds us.  The grungy paper lends an art journaling touch, yet it’s in a beautifully subtle way.  Such a lovely page.

Calm by Mrivas

Ah, I love a paper style layout!  This is such a good one…  the layers of the papers, the scatter, the flower, and all the loveliness that goes with it.  Great shadowing and page design… and a beautiful smile to top it off!

I noticed my ‘theme’ today was calmness and serenity… after spending a relaxing day in the sun with my best friend, that’s definitely my mood right now!

Stay safe and be well, my creative friends!
