Finger Pointing – October 21st

Hello on a damp, cold and rainy October evening, I’m enjoying my time browsing the galleries armed with a glass of wine. Jane here with my picks for the Gallery Standouts Blog today.

First up is Boo Crew by Aly321. I love the spider web which grounds the photo and the fabulous cluster work on this page. Converting the photo to b/w really made it stand out from the wonderful clusters the artist has created here.

A second Halloween layout, Fright by Tia Adair, also features a black and white photo, layered over a great mix of patterned papers. I love how she created a vertical design by adding the upper and lower stitched papers and elements. A few splashes of orange really draw your eye to the photo.

Continuing my unintended Halloween theme, we have Captured October by DivaMom96. Who could resist that adorable photo. I love the hexagonal shaped background – just a wonderful clean page!

Just Me and My Dump Truck by Pizazz is such a fun, colourful page. Cute photos are combined with a delightful mix of elements and word art plus I love how the paint splatters mimic dirt.

Will Run for Beer by Heidi Nicole is my next pick. What a great design – I love how your eye is drawn down the center of the page to the journaling block. The artist has used all the different square types to create her page and accented them with colorful elements – super cute and I love the title!!

My last pick today is Time for a Cuppa by Vrielinkie. I love how the artist has split the photo into two hanging frames, then created a delightful cluster of coffee themed elements to add to her theme. The final perfect touches are the coffee stains stamped on the background.

That’s is all from me tonight. I hope you enjoyed my picks!  Congratulations if you are featured, and, if you appreciate the pages, please leave a bit of love for these awesome artists.

Finger Pointing – October 9th

Its definitely starting to feel like fall around here. Although we haven’t had a frost yet, the temperature is hovering just a few degrees above zero so a bit crisp outside. Jane here, bringing you a few of the fabulous layouts posted in the galleries that caught my eye today.

First up today is Your Smile by Immaculeah with that darling photo. I love the colorful mix of patterned papers clipped to the tags and mixed with journal cards. The scribbled and paint splashed background adds to the fun feel of the page.

Stop Right now by Cherry Gutz is an amazing all about me page. I love how the artist has placed journal strips drawing your eye around the page. Her clustering and shadowing are amazing, while the use of the b/w photo with the blue, black and white color scheme really adds to the mood of the page. I had a day like this last weekend, so I can definitely identify.

JOMO in Malaga by musicmom3 is an artful blending of colorful photos and brushwork which popped out of the gallery. I love the large blended and masked background photo with the smaller detail accent photos.

Next up is a delightful paper page Artistic Spirits by Moriony. I love that colorful rainbow wash background with the co-ordinating fun and whimsical mix of dimensional elements.

March 18 in History by KyllieShato is a very striking page. The grid design really lends itself to her theme of interesting facts from that date. The bold background with the tri-color scheme is very effective, while the offset titlework adds the perfect final touch.

My final pick of the day Home by JenEm made my heart sing when I saw it in the gallery. I love the photo, neutral palette and touching journaling. A scattering of elements add the perfect final touch. An outstanding page!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my choices today. If so, please leave some love in the galleries for these talented artists.

Finger Pointing – September 24th

Hello on a beautiful fall Tuesday afternoon. After getting some yard clean-up done this afternoon, I’m now enjoying time browsing the galleries. Jane here with my picks for the Gallery Standouts Blog today.

First up is Happiness by Twinsmomflor which really popped out of the gallery with that adorable photo which is beautifully framed with grungy cardboard. I love the contrast between the neutral layered background papers and the hot pink of the little one’s glasses, paint splash and word art. Finally the artist has added some great texture to the page with gesso and multiple layers of stamps.

Next we have Under Construction by Florida Granny. This is such a lovely feminine page with the soft painted background paper, textured doilies, messy stitching and perfectly placed loopy thread. A simple cluster of a heart, scissors and word strip create the perfect finishing touch.

Oh my! I fell in love with the joyful smile of the little girl in School is Cool by Tierre. Check out those wonderful school themed elements and word art laid over misted paint, with a blended white and graph paper background. There’s such fun whimsical feel to this page – I love it!

Next up we have another super cute photo of two little would be ballerinas in Marjike’s 19-09 page. I love the clean simplicity of this page, with the subtle printed papers and horizontal design. The three circle shapes really draw your eye, while a scattering of bling, tiny flower and flowing ribbon complete the page beautifully.

Lady by Simplette  is another delightful white space page. I love the layered framing of the photo which perfectly captures the cat’s character and is accented by a pretty cluster of leaves, chess board and tipped over game pieces.

My final pick today is Entre Cousins by Hildy. I love how the artist has combined the watery masks with the scenic photos, then added three smaller framed detail photos. She has really let the photos shine here with just a bit of added texture and paint.

I hope you enjoyed my picks for today. Congratulations to those featured, and, if you have a chance, leaving a bit of love to these awesome artists only takes a minute! Until the next time.

Speak by Anika68 really popped out of the gallery. This page has such a wonderful graphic vibe. I love the vertical title work, electric blue coloring of the photo contrasting with the grungy background and interesting word art. All these together create a very striking page.

Sun and Sand by Chigirl has me feeling a little nostalgic for those hot summer days. The happy yellow and blue color combo really caught my eye along with the cute beach photos and colorful clustering.

Next up is Baseball by rdutch. This is such a cute themed page. The cut out circular paper on the baseball stitched background really makes the page. I love the red/white/black combo and the cute cluster.

Love You Like Crazy by Yvette Weber is a delightful traditional scrapbook page with a great design and mix of pastel papers, cute elements and awesome title work. I love the trail of diamond shaped paper pieces down the page plus the black and white photo contrasts so well with the mix of patterns.

My final pick of the day is Frost Museum by Adrianita. What a lovely monochromatic page with all the delicate elements layered above the soft brushwork. The oversize title focuses the eye and draws attention to all the details. Such a sweet page.

Finger Pointing – August 20th

Hello everyone, Jane here today with some of the gorgeous layouts posted over the past day to feature on the blog today. I have to keep this short and sweet though as my internet has been acting up.

First up is Croatia by Magnolia 2907 – I love travel pages and this one has a gorgeous photo with a painted  treatment combined with amazing canvas texture and the perfect beachy clusters of elements.

That’s How I Roll by Tia is my next pick with the fun title, angled design and mix of cut-out papers. Aren’t those sushi accents just so cute?

La Crosse by Dotcomkari is a great monochromatic page with the geometric sketched elements perfectly setting off the bridge design. Some messy paint splatters and great layering of labels and fasteners finish page off perfectly.

We are Family by Marleen is a lovely heritage page. I adore the partially extracted photo which pops off the layered background so beautifully, the soft background brushwork and that butterfly is just fabulous.

My next pick Sunshine by HappyGRL is a traditional paper page which I couldn’t resist with the fun circular design. I love how the artist started off with a delightful circular photo and built her whole design around it. The colourful rings of words interspersed with matching elements come together to create a very eye catching page.

My final pick today is Back to School by Hillareyd. Such a great mix of fun photos together with the school themed elements. I love those paper planes “taking off”.

Finger Pointing – August 4th

Hello, Jane here today on a hot sunny Sunday afternoon of a long weekend. I hope you’re enjoying your day wherever you are as much as I am.

First up today is 10 Favorite Things by Lauabobaura. I love snapshot in time layouts and this one is awesome. I adore that incredibly cute large photo which has been masked to mimic the soap bubbles and the colourful list of favorites with a fun subtitle.

Swimming by apottinger is another bright and colourful summer page. I love the colour blocking and fun action photos. The seahorse and button accents make a great addition and draw your eye down to the clean and crisp title.

My next pick is My Loves by Hondachic. What a delightful large photo of the two little girls playing on a swing. The photo has been blended into the background and accented by a tiny cluster and a stitched scalloped border along the lower edge. Just lovely!

I burst out laughing when I first saw this next page – Puffer Face by Justagirl. Those photos are just so cute and accented perfectly by the cluster with the little puffer fish accent. The paint splatters, lacy element, great layering and shadowing of the background papers all really add texture to the fabulous page.

I love walking the beach looking for shells and driftwood so Beachcombing by Oldenmeade really caught my eye. It features a lovely cluster set at a point of convergence with the waves and the angles on the mask. The photo is very subtly blended into the background creating a very soft and delicate look.

Crazy Makers by Heather H is my final pick of the day. A fantastic art journal page using an eclectic mix of fonts to create the title and a list of five things guaranteed to drive us a bit crazy along with their solutions in a fun mix of type and word art strips. Sketchy and doodled elements complete the design – such a creative page!

That’s all from me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed my picks. If you get a chance, please pop by the artist’s gallery to leave a little love.

Finger Pointing – July 29th

Good evening all. I hope everyone has had a great Monday. I have to admit to liking Mondays much more since I retired. Generally, they are one of my quieter days in the week, although not today as we saw our daughter and her family off after a great visit then I got caught up on all the little chores that I’ve been letting slide. This evening I finally had time to check out the galleries and found lots of inspiration.

Italy by Ferdy is an awesome travel page. First I love the mix of word art and red, white and green elements that echo the colours of the Italian flag, and then I love how the artist has layered and embellished the cut out title letters to create a very eye catching title.

The Perfect Escape by Ursula has such a wonderful beachy vibe! I love the dolphin frame anchoring the main photo which lifts off the page and all those fabulous scattered shell accents.

Next Stop by Zwyck really caught my eye with the striking black and white sketchy treatment of the multiple photos. A few red accents perfectly placed complete this artful page.

Love this by Myssp has a lovely variety of shapes layered in a great vertical design. The sweet photo really stands out in the circular frame and is accented by stitching, lacy and feminine accents.

Memorial Day by BJC has a delightful mix of photos with a crisp red/white/blue colour scheme. A banner border and scatter of stars underlying a fun choice of word art combine to create a beautifully designed page. I also love how she’s used multiple different kits to create such a cohesive page.

Unshakeable by Paper Wings is my final pick of the day. An outstanding art journal page which combines a blended vintage photo with a powerful message and layers of painted collaged elements.

That’s all from me this evening. I hope you enjoyed my choices for today and can take some time to leave a little love in the galleries for these wonderful artists.
