Finger Pointing – June 8th

Hello everyone! I’m sitting here with a “Cherry Bakewell” flavoured Green Tea enjoying the sun shining in through the window, with one of our cats curled up beside me on the sofa! It is so relaxing, and the perfect time for me to browse through the galleries and shine a light on some gorgeous and creative pages! Trying to narrow down my selections to just 6 is the hard part! There is so much scrapping talent out there! I wish I could feature more, but alas, 6 it is! Let me get to it and show you my picks for today! xx

Make your Wish Become True by MrsPeel

Maybe you know this, maybe you don’t, So I’ll share just in case! This amazingly talented, deeply caring, huggable and loveable, chatty, crazy (in the nicest possible way) woman, has a very special place in my heart! We met online through scrapbooking many years ago and have also had the pleasure of hugging each other in person many times too! This may make me a little biased, but I’m posting this page anyway! LOL –  Not only is her  beautiful (both inside and out) daughter the feature of the page, but so is Cynthia’s incredible talent for art & design! The blending, the feel of watercolour paints & the large quote on her page is all just stunning. If you visit any of Cynthia’s galleries you will come across a spectrum of impressive pages! xx

BYOC June by designbylime

This art journal style page captured my attention in the gallery with its bright and cheerful summery colours! Upon closer inspection there is so much to find that screams creativity! The wonderful texture of the paint, the stamped alpha and inked script, the strips of word art and the magnificent bird taking centre stage! The pops of pink amongst the lime yellow and orange! It all blends so well together and creates an artful masterpiece! This would look amazing printed onto a canvas or framed and displayed, it would also be fab used as a design for a greeting card! Who wouldn’t love to receive this beauty in the mail! xx

If Only We lived Closer by Dalis

Another page that just popped for me in the gallery! The wonderful touches of orange and green on a neutral background and paired with the large Kraft paper alpha title work really caught my eye. I love the ink splatters and starburst stamps too, they add that extra little something to the page. Then you spot the other little details like the flower pinning down a bow and another pinning down some string. All these little details make admiring this page so enjoyable, it is like a treasure hunt!  The subject matter is wonderful also, 2 little boys smiling after enjoying some frozen yogurt! I’m jealous, that sounds delicious on this sunny day in the UK. xx

Being Me and Being Happy by jaye

I always love to share with you a pocket style page, I love creating them and love to admire them twice as much! This one is a fabulous example of how pocket scrapping can be created in any style! Normally when thinking of pocket pages, your mind may imagine clean lines, simple patterned papers, clean and bold or minimalistic journal cards etc. This page by Jaye showcases a grungier look, a artfully messy, inspiring and dynamic take on a pocket page! I *heart* the stitching! Then look around and you find fabulous painted papers, stamp work, doyleys and what looks to be transfers and worn papers! The B&W photos really shine amongst the beautiful array of colours and textures too! The title of the page sings too, and this page made me “Happy”! xx

Hybrid! I love to see pages created outside of the computer screen, they are so inspiring and I find myself wishing to be so daring! No undo button once that paper has been cut/cropped! Eeeek! You have to be brave! This hooked me in the gallery because not only do you see this wonderfully creative page all layered up and pieced together, you also get a glimpse of the process! How fabulous is that! The tape, the glue, the string, the buttons and tag! Which parts have been printed directly onto the background and the pieces that have been cropped and cut to arrange on the page! This is marvellous and such a great way to showcase all the hard work that went into the finished project, which is a splendid and a wonderful demonstration of a male styled page!  xx

love summer by Mother Bear

I think the sunny and warmer weather we have finally been having in the UK has had my eyes seeking out pages to match! I was drawn to this gorgeous layered and clustered page that screams summer! Here we have the blues of the ocean and the bright yellow of the sun, mixed with lush greens and featuring a nautical theme that makes you want to visit the beach! An adorable photo, that is calm and serene really is stunning on this page! I love the stamp work and the choice of bold patterns, along with the fab layering and clusters of flowers. The pop of red in the title work,  small flowers and string bow is a great eye catching touch too! xx

Finger Pointing – May 31

Hi! *waves* –  Vicky here, and I’m back with another round of Gallery Standouts for you on this wet and grey day here in my part of the UK! Today we are having a Pyjama day while recovering from a very late night after a wonderful BBQ & Party yesterday, when the weather was much nicer, that was  for my husbands birthday, and his cousins little boys birthday too! While my son Ty is playing Minecraft on the iPad, and my husband Tim is playing Candy Crush on his phone, I’m currently curled up in the corner of my sofa with some big comfy cushions, and a mug of coffee browsing the galleries! Perfect Sunday really! So let me share with you the beauties I found! xx

STITCH! Oh my this crazy little creature is one of my sons favourite Disney characters, so this page simply leapt out of the gallery for me today! I love the nautical colours here, to go with these fabulous beach photos! The journaling is wonderful and it demonstrates great memory keeping of the moment, It would be just like Stich to try and eat a hat, hehehehe. Pocket pages are a weakness of mine, I love the angled photo paper clipped to the page, the word strips and large text directly on one of the photos. The pops of yellow are a perfect finishing touch to the page. This is one side of a 2 page layout, to see the other page click here xx

Large title work is always eye-catching in the galleries, and a large number as a title is simply quite intriguing! I just had to click on the thumbnail to see this page in all its glory! What I found was inspiring! I absolutely love the memories held in the journaling here and the story behind the number 12! Also the fact that this photo came in a form of a text, and  is documentation of an announcement. The team colours in the paper choices and the flourish sweeping the page with a soccer ball at the end are perfect touches, not forgetting the team badge stapled to the page! xx

You and me by saar

My love of painted, artsy, messy and eclectic pages is perfectly showcased right here! Just look at the wonderful layers of stamping, paint, doodles, bold papers, scatters and elements! Stunning right?! Paired with a subtle yet bold large title plus the ampersand and adorable photo, I really *heart* this page! I also really love the fact that sarr used a pocket card in a non-traditional way, showcasing the diversity of these types of products, and hopefully inspiring others to stretch their digital stash too. xx

These Dreams by Scrappie Irene

OH MY! The blending and masking of this photo and background is just stunning! The large photo and bold graphic details of the cityscape and combination of ink and paint really POPS! Along with the brushes and stamps used to create this piece of artwork, the mixed fonts/alpha title work really compliments the overall design! How can you not fall in love with that charming face too! Overall I simply think this is a remarkable page, that would look amazing printed on canvas! xx

Another fabulous blended page, it’s a technique I sometimes play around with, and enjoy, but I don’t think I ever achieve something this beautiful! The rich colours, depth and texture in this photograph really stands out! The artistic blending into the textured paper is quite simply first class! I love the worn alpha title work too, it matches the natural element of the rocks and mountain scape so well. Absolutely gorgeous! xx

WOW! What a fabulous fully loaded clustered page! This page is so striking and impressive! The many layers and marvellous use of many types of digital media makes this page a real standout for me! I love the wood background with splashes of paint, the selection of rustic colours, the beautiful black and white photo and the mix of pretty doyleys and torn paper. Truly fabulous! xx

Finger Pointing – May 22

Hello from the UK! It’s Vicky here with my 1st ever Gallery Standout picks! I’m so excited to be guesting as a part of the GSO team! I absolutely LOVE browsing the scrapbooking community and galleries to admire all the wonderful creations, artwork and memory keeping that can be found there! This week has been a crazy one for my family, with my son being diagnosed last Friday  with mild/low risk appendicitis! Thankfully a course of antibiotics has cleared that up, he is no longer suffering and today he is back to school! So this morning I have been able to relax in front of the laptop with a big mug of coffee, and just breathe! It’s been so much fun, and so difficult at the same time to pick 6 projects to “finger point” today! Here they are, I hope you love them as much as I do xx

DISCOVERY by wombat146

OH MY! This just jumped out at me  from the gallery, the amazing sketched edit to the photo, and the aged appearance really POPS! Then there is so much more to take in, I love the splashes of bright pink and orange paint, the stitching and tucked in ephemera under torn and worn papers. the first time I looked at this I just wanted to reach out and feel  the page! Amazing art work and great depth and texture! I simply love this page xx

If you haven’t already noticed, I *heart* paint! The fresh and bright green paint on this page really pulled me in, but there is so much more to admire! The tape and ink as well as the stamped title work and handwriting font really is fabulous! As well as appreciating the scrapbooking talents of thimbleberrie, I can also really relate to the subject matter! with 3 cats of our own we are forever hovering the rug, sweeping the floor and brushing down our clothes, cleaning wet nose prints from the windows and countless of other tedious jobs, but we love them as part of the family, and wouldn’t change them for the world xx

Week 19 Left by mimisgirl

This year I have fallen in love with pocket style scrapping, I am often in the galleries looking for inspiration and mimisgirl’s pocket pages are always catching my eye! This one is no different! Her black and white photos are stunning, and she mixes them so well with colour! This particular page really captures my attention with the varying sizes and angles of her photos. Her memory keeping is fantastic, just look at the kids being captured in day to day activities, the documenting of a power cut and artwork/crafts in progress! Ur Biggest Fan by KellyM

Yes, I also *heart* black & white photos, and this one also speaks to me! Football (soccer) is a sport my son really enjoys! KellyM captured a great image here and its great to see it taking the main stage on this layout, I love action shots and this one is perfect! The cluster in the right hand corner looks to me like a fantastic artistic interpretation of the ball going in the net! But there is more! Just look at those chevrons, the wonderful mix of papers, the wordart strips, stitching and even a splash of paint! Everything is just Wonderful xx

kind by zizazzi

I am often in awe of people that can create eye-catching clean and simple pages, zizazzi has created such a page right here! The off white background allows the papers she chose, to go with her photos, the chance to shine! I love the pops of black and green! The movement shown in the various action shots and fun photos of a boy being a typical boy transcend into the page with the circles of photos and papers being slightly off kilter. This layout is part of a 2 page spread, to see the other side, which is just as stunning click here xx

Epic Road Trip by kim517

This page first grabbed my attention due to the amazing layering and clustering! Stunning right?! Once I opened the thumbnail in the gallery and got the full picture, I was blown away even more! “Epic” is the word! 2169 miles through 9 states in 11 days! WOW!! The  journaling and memory keeping here is simply awesome! A page that will be treasured for years to come, I’m pretty sure it is, or is going to be, a part of a much bigger project documenting this amazing road trip! I’m also thinking that this being my 1st ever post for the GSO blog, the fact I came across this page was fate! On a visit to family in the USA over 10 years ago, we drove from Virginia Beach (VA) to Washington DC with a stop off at Williamsburg on route! So thank you kim517 for refreshing my memory of a wonderful trip and time spent with my American family xx
