Finger Pointing – June 19th

Pappa, father, baba, vater, padre… “Dad” has many names.  Although all nations do not celebrate Father’s Day today, many do!  So our hats off to the dads in our lives!  Today’s GSO post is a tribute to these very special men.

Slow Scrap Story_Dad by Mcurtt

The 1954 photo of Marilyn’s dad is pretty special!  Although, that “Danger Men” sign poking up makes me giggle.  When you can, drop by and read the journaling – it is almost “brutal” honesty, yet Marilyn ends with humor.  And no sleeveless undershirts were harmed in the making of this layout, or GSO post.

Sunny Day by Vrielinkie

We typically do not feature the same layout artist two days in a row. But I break that rule today since the star of Vrielinkie’s main photo is Grandpa!  And that fits perfectly with the Father’s Day theme.  And, Vrielinkie’s use of organic lines and waves perfectly complements the beach photos.

2022 Father’s Day Card by Iowan

I am such a fan of hybrid projects and adore this layout featuring a hybrid Father’s Day card.  I love the personal touches and never thought to make a card like this myself.  Thank you for the inspiration, Carol!

Rad Dad by HeatherH

That enormous title is an attention getter!  But I love all the tiny details too from the emoji face, moustache, and lovely floral cluster.  This is a RAD layout for dad!

My Hero by Susan

What heartfelt journaling by Susan to her hero – her dad!  I adore the creative journaling and use of the books with wisdom, honor, love, mentor and truth on the spines.

One More Time by Franlk

Okay, this one has me teary eyed!  “I wish I could hug my dad one. more. time.”  This is such a poignant reminder to let those special men in our lives know just how special they are.

In closing, today also celebrates Freedom, Justice, and the end of slavery in the United States.  June 19, 1865, just over two years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation abolishing slavery in the US, slaves in Texas finally learned of their freedom.

Happy Father’s Day and Happy Juneteenth!

Have a lovely week ya’ll!

Take care.

Finger Pointing – June 18th

Hi everyone!

I have been a bit awol the last week, as my bestie is here from London, so I have been spending time with her and not at my computer. It has been a lot of fun, bar the spider incident earlier today…

Vrielinkie – Wild Thing

Isn’t this gorgeous! I love the patchwork heart, using all those fun patterns in one tone of coral! Creating the title using a lyric and ‘wild’ alphas is a wonderful touch and the shadow work is perfect. I also like the patchwork background, but using more neutral colours and patterns, to let the heart shine!

Carrie1977 – 100 Percent This

I am a big fan of Carrie’s work; this just jumped out at me! I love the painty, background – the colours are so nice and soft, I really like all the little bits and bobs included – hearts, stars, words, etc. Her layers are lovely, with the small cluster at the front and lots of little elements tucked into her layers. I like that her message is made up of a mixture of journal card and wordbits.

Kiana – A March Muse

I am just fan-girling all over the place today! Kiana’s work always inspires me and I also use her shadow pack for my layouts 🙂 I love the colours here, such a wonderful mix of patterns, but again using the same main colour and using all the possible tones, so pretty. I love the use of Hexagons here, I’m a hexie fan. I love the message here of being your own muse and the photos and the words really tie that message together.

iScrap – Love and Coffee

It’s no secret I love coffee, I had to give up caffeine in January, but I have found some tasty decaf, so it’s all good. I love coffee-themed layouts and I really love the rich colours here and all the fun little clusters that have a mixture of flowers, wordart, hearts and coffee-themed elements. The busy background paper, doesn’t actually feel that busy here, it suits the stacked, full nature of the layout. Love it!

Amandajk – Signature June22

I don’t know if this is allowed or not, but I am including it here because WOW!! If this is her signature, how awesome will her layouts be! I love everything about this. Amanda has created a fun little scene for her signature and there is so much to look at. I love the Giraffe poking out of the car, the painty sunburst, the different flowers, so very creative and special. I feel like this would make a great desk plaque!

Sylvia – Sunshine Days

Final piece of fan-girling from me! Sylvia has to be the Queen of Clean Layouts -right? Her work is so inspiring, she often creates simple, clean layouts that pack a huge punch. This one just proves that you can tell your story without photos, I am 100% with her on her happy place, beach, sea, vacay = yes please. I love the little finishing touches of the camera, the flowers and the scatters.

That’s all from me today, I hope you will go and leave these talented scrappers some love. Happy scrapping, I am off to the beach and I will see you in July.

Finger Pointing – June 17th

Happy Friday, friends!  Heidi Nicole here, coming to you from hot and steamy Kentucky…  Hope this finds all of you well!  The galleries are full of creativity and inspiration, and here are my picks for today…

Dad by SweetChar

This lovely, nostalgic piece makes me feel all the feels!  Dads are so special to us, and this is a beautiful memory to be treasured forever.  Beyond the feel of the layout, the technique is spot on.  The clustering, layering, and shadowing are beyond reproach.  The large title and the recurring circles balance the design, and it all comes together seamlessly.  Absolutely lovely!

Beach Love by LeeAndra

I have to admit, the sweet photo that is front and center drew me in immediately.  The addition of the same photo peeking out on either side just adds to the magic.  The bold background was a genius choice, and that title!  I love how the title balances the little word strips in opposite corners.  Every layer looks like it was placed specifically, and the shadows are absolutely lovely.  Each detail is *heart eyes* <3 The entire page makes me swoon!

#LOL by tanpopo

Do you ever wonder how to use a dark, bold background?  Well, this is how…  and it is absolutely magical!  I am in total love with this!  It immediately made me smile…  I mean, look at that photo!  What a cutie!  I LOVE that all the elements and goodies are across the top.  The bright colors in contrast to the chalkboard smiley background is so spot on.  The perfect touch is that grungey colorful paint.  I can’t say enough about this…  I just love it all!

Bikini Life by MrsPeel

I am loving the tropical, summer vibes here…  The shadowed ripped papers add dimension and realism to the layout.  The design of the page is so pleasing to the eye…  and what a lovely photo!  The title, using two different fonts/alphas, really brings the page together.  The elements, in the proverbial triangle, are beautifully placed and clustered.  I’m all about the bikini life!

She Loved Life by Farwen

This is wowza!  What an incredible technique on that photo… it looks like a vintage magazine to me!  I appreciate the art journaling vibes, yet the dimensional shadows on the paper scraps, word strips, and butterfly add depth and realism.  All in all, such an inspiration to all of us!

Life Documented by chigirl

This page evokes such calm feelings… and warm and fuzzies because of those sweet photos!  I adore all the vertical paper strips and arrows behind the photos, it adds so much interest to a solid(ish) background.  The minimal use of elements are perfectly placed and shadowed.  The spray paint and messy thread add a bit of grungey goodness to the piece.  It all comes together with that amazing title!  Love it!

That’s all for today, friends!  Don’t forget to click on the links to the pages and leave them some love <3  Have a wonderful Father’s Day weekend, all!

Finger Pointing ~ June 16, 2022

Hello Everyone!! How is your June going?  One more week and it will be officially summer, but most of us have already hit the summer heat! I know we have. We are having more 100+ degrees weather than NOT lately!

I was surfing through the galleries and I had such a hard time narrowing it down to one per gallery! There are so many beautiful and inventive pages out there!! Here are the ones I really wanted you to pay attention to! As always, leave them some love if you get a chance! Every artist, no matter how long they’ve been around, LOVES to see comments!!!

You are not a Stranger Here by Spinefusion

I am fascinated by the blending of the face with the pattern and the background! It reminds me of a cyborg! I love the photo treatment on the background buildings and the dictionary page as texture!

Emu Wren by Tamsin

I’m always drawn in by cute puppies, butterflies, babies, and fat little birdies!! Such a sweet picture! I love the minimal elements and the sweet butterfly. The blending of the watercolor paper behind the photos is perfect! Great color choices and I love the font for “Stay”.

Lighthouse by *gina*

My Mom was part Danish, so I loved seeing this picture of a Danish lighthouse. The fun thing about this page is that Gina almost made two pages, yet the paint and the journaling tied the two together. The large multi-font title and the blending of the watercolors on the background are perfect!

Remember When by Marnel

Ok, you had me at Butterflies! I was pulled in by them and the beautiful bright colors! The title “Remember When” is perfectly blended into the background. The layered ripped paper makes a great background, and the plain one on the top helps the beautiful cluster at the top pop out at you.

Ducklings by Jcaruth910

What an absolutely gorgeous page!! I love the layers of watercolor, a map underneath, and text as texture! The photo of the cute duck is such a wonderful photo. I didn’t notice the ducklings at first – I was drawn to the reflection of the Momma Duck! The dragonfly and postage stamp is a perfect topping for a great page.

Love by Cinderella

Just about everything Cinderella does is love in my book!! This one called to me and I was not surprised! Her blending is top-notch, and there is always some surprise to me. The surprise this time was the paint drips underneath the lace. I love the way she uses gesso as well. I feel like I could reach out and touch the monitor and I would feel the textures!

Well, that’s it for today!!! Enjoy!

Finger Pointing – June 15th

Do you know what day it is?

It is hump day!  And here are few Gallery Standouts to help you get through those mid-week blues!

Reach for the Stars by LisaMT

Wow! Those photos are magical!  And paired with a phenomenal cluster – this layout is otherworldly.

Joy of Color AND One of Kind by Robinsismai

With my favorite color being rainbow, how could I chose just one layout?

The selective coloring of the sunglasses in Joy of Color is perfection!  And the circular cluster in One of a Kind with every color of the rainbow is incredibly gorgeous (but its that tongue sticking out that makes the layout!).

Brave, Strong and Broken by Cinderella

The paper-pieced heart background is reason enough for a GSO…but throw in that art doll with the beautiful paper dress…I am bowing down to this brave and strong princess.

2022 Week 23 Right by Mrivas

What a gorgeous pocket page – look at that wall art!  The colors and the vibe speak summer to me (and maybe a bit rainbow too!).  Way to capture those everyday moments is such a beautiful way.  This could seriously be an ad for that outlet mall!

Forty and Fabulous by dotcomkari

Last but not least is a layout by one of our very own bloggers who recently celebrated the BIG Four – O.  Happy belated birthday and welcome to your fourth decade!  May you have many more.  And yes the layout is FANTASTIC!  The fun photos, the confetti, and gold-foil balloons – this layout is having a party!

Till next time, stay safe and happy my fellow scrapping artists.

Take care,

Lisa (Armygrl)
