Finger Pointing – March 7th

Hi y’all! This is Cindy (scribler) and today is my very first blog post for the GSO blog. I am excited to be here and helping to highlight just a few of the awesome pages being created throughout the digiscrapping world.

Clothed in Dignity by Angela Toucan

I love the large word art paired with the large art doll. I really like the color choices and such great use of paint. I also really like all the flowers that were included on the page. I am a sucker for a great art journal page and this is one.

The Garden of Life by Rollinchen

I love the artsy/grungy feel of this page. I really like the layering of papers at different angels and that torn paper is so great. I also really like all the paint used for the background of the page. This page screams fun which makes it fit the title so well.

Metallica from Anita

I love a page with a good vintage feel to it and this page has it. I love the photo work to make the picture look more like it was drawn. I really like the way the photo is framed on the page. It’s a fantastic page.

Right Now from scrapchyck

This is just such a classic scrapbooking page capturing a single moment in someone’s life. I love it. I love the bright colors used for the page. I really like the photo framing. Such great layering and element clustering on this page. I also love the artsy feel of the background.

Here Comes Spring from scrap-genie

I absolutely love the Springy feel of this page. Such a beautiful photo of flowers. I really like the great use of out of bounds and the way that part of the photo flows with the page. I really like the use of elements on the page. And the choice of the purple photo mat really allows the photo to pop. I’m ready for Spring and so is this page.

Tales from the Barkside from Janisn

The first thing that attracted me to this page was the dog photos. I love cute photos of dogs and this page fit that bill. I love the great element choices for the page. So many cute dogs elements in a variety of locations on the page. I really like the bright colors used on the page. I also love the creativity of the title. It’s a wonderful page to brighten your day.

Thank y’all for stopping by the blog today. I  hope y’all find some inspiration here to help you with your next pages. Remember, today is a great day to capture your memories.

Finger Pointing – March 5th

Happy Sunday my dear friends!  I hope wherever you are, you are as blessed with good weather and good fortune as I am!

As I strolled through the galleries this fine afternoon, I found myself amazed at phenomenal layering and blending.  Clusters were top notch!  The arty blending and layering has me excited to create layouts too!

Furry Friend by LivyBug

First up is this wonderfully crafted layout by LivyBug.  I am drawn into the overall design – the way the focal cluster is in a bit of a triangular shape pointing to the title.  I enjoy taking in all the bits and hunting for the cats – like the cat in the box.

Flex Playlist by TrishD

Next is a work of art I just can’t get enough of!  The colors and the bit of grunge are spot on for this musical layout in a graphic design style.  I like the placement of the word art in an “L” shape which frame the focal splendidly.

Footprints by Cfile

Wow!  You really have to take a closer look at this beauty, to see the face blended into the paper.  That unexpected detail is such a delightful surprise!  Combined with the soft tones and the expert photography – this layout ticks so many boxes!

Do It For You by Ana_Santos

The beautifully rendered face drew me in!  I like the placement of the flower over one eye – to me, she is winking! I enjoy the flowers in many different sizes as this helps give depth to the layout. The blending of the word art into the background adds a soft touch.  This is the kind of layout in which one can get delightfully lost in all the layers.

From Paris With Love by Chaos Lounge

Yes, there are phenomenal clusters here.  But truthfully, it is the subtle details on the grid paper that drew me in. I like how that paper takes up only half the page – so the title stands out.  I like the little paper-punched holes adding a bit of texture.  I like the way that grid paper is such a wonderful backdrop to the bits of ephemeral like the Paris tag.  This layout is all sorts of Ooh LaLa!

shm by Marnel

Last is a layout by one of my all-time favorite layout artists – Marnel.  I am always blown away by her attention to detail.  Her layouts pack a lot of punch!  Hot mess?  Never!  This layout is full of style and pizzaz from the arty background to the use of tags and the heaps of flowers.  Nothing but gorgeousness here!

Till next time my dear friends!  Happy crafting and creating!

Finger Pointing – March 4th

Hello! Happy Saturday evening to you all.

I hope you had a great start to your weekend, I really did.

I love this time when all the new challenges start and you start to see different things popping up in the galleries.

Mrivas – Treasure This

I love that the use of the quote/wordart fits her journaling perfectly. The photo is gorgeous and I love how the b&w photo pops out of the muted colour palette.

Caapmun – New Month

WOW! I love the blending here.. I swear one day I will be able to blend like this, for now I will just keep admiring gorgeous layouts like this. I love the scatters with the messy thread and small elements. Really stunning.

geek_girl – I’m Cute

The layering under the photo is awesome. I love the paint chip strips, adding a really nice touch of colour to the page. And how happy is the girl in the photo, the whole thing is just so happy.

tativero – Doodle Doux

Such a stunning photoless page. I love the large cluster and I am such a sucker for a trailing ribbon. Her shadow work is amazing and all the doodles add a lot of interest and lead your eye to the cluster.

Mother Bear – ME

The b&w photos are such a nice touch here, they really pop. I love the little clusters and all the peeks of kraft paper around the photos and in the clusters. The messy edges of the pages add a little grungy feel to the page.

Annsofie – Me Myself and I

I always like to see hybrid pages/projects in the galleries, and this one leapt out at me, as I loved the bold paper. The photo is lovely and the wordart used really speaks to the photo. A great example of how to use digital elements to create physical layouts.

That’s all from me, I hope you enjoyed seeing these talented scrappers and will leave them some love.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Finger Pointing – March 2nd

Oh my gosh, has March really slipped up on me!  I suppose it’s because February is such a short month,  Our weather is bouncing around where I live, but it’s mostly pretty warm – we hit the mid 70’s a couple of days ago, but it’s settled back into the high 60’s now and we’ll take that!  Let’s get started with my picks for today.

First up is Purple Rain by Cheesecake – This page literally takes my breath away!  I’m so moved by this gorgeous image, the “rain” and light coming from the top, left side of the page and what I can I say about that beautiful eye???  This page is a true showstopper, indeed!

Next up is Waiting for Spring by Oldbag 165 The stark beauty of this page is what drew me in.  I love the dark, heavy tree, with its branches, at the side and the lone bird sitting on it.  The middle of the page is so beautifully white and blends down into the light color along with the stamping, the minimal elements and the title.  Perfection!

Next up is  Life is a Dream by Rochelle 86 This page is so full of scrappy goodness that I hardly know where to start.  I’m loving the big photo in the center, with the sweet children, playing in the snow.  The smaller accent pictures add to that so wonderfully and are perfectly placed.  Add in the lovely borders, and you have a page that’s definitely a winner!

I Am Woman by *sylvia* is my next pick.  Can I just say “wow”???  That red hair jumped off the page at me and I adore the photo treatment!  The yellow and red circles are so happy and add to the energy of this fantastic page!  The word stamps and all of the great word art are just icing on the cake!

Always by amyjzac is up next.  I love big photo layouts and this one certainly ticks that box.  The added goodness is all of the “grunge” that is on top of and around the picture – I also love “grunge”, so this layout ticks two boxes. What a delightful layout!  I love everything about it!

Don’t Stop The Music by Chunlin is my last pick for today.  SO much Art Journaling goodness on this page!  The photo technique on the face of amazing – the face is doubly intriguing and doubly eye-catching.  LOVE the fabulous border work with all of the word art and perfect elements worked into it.

That will do it for me today.  I hope you’ve enjoyed my picks – I sure did enjoy surfing the galleries to bring them to you.  Be sure to click on the name of the page, and you can leave these artists some love.  See you next time.

Finger Pointing – February 23rd

My husband had one of my pages from a good while ago pop up on his FB memories the other day and he commented on how much my scrapping style has changed over the years. Not only was I pleased to note that he does actually notice my pages when I post them but that yes, my scrapping style has changed! From quite a vintage look to more of a “clean lines” look. But the one thing that hasn’t changed for me is layers… I love layers… and lots of them. What is your style? Has it changed? Is there a style that you aspire to? I’d love to be more artsy but I’m just not sure that’s how my brain works! Instead, I get my fix in the galleries. Here’s some fine pieces of work that I admire so much!

Live Wild Free by Ann060606 is so striking with its riot of colour making it hard to miss in the gallery. Of course, the topic of the page is all about exactly that – bold use of colour. Just glorious!

Lightness by beaute is the opposite end of the scale with its soft pink tones. The photo is beautifully framed while the little floral and butterfly cluster adds subtle decoration and the word art provides super contrast. So pretty!

bluedraft52 has done some great photo treatment on his page entitled Krista 2009. I love how the colours pop against the darker, four quadrant backdrop and the floral clusters balance the page perfectly. A fine piece of art!

Summer Sunset by Romajo is a great design with its visual triangles, the mixed media detail on the left, right and at the bottom, and the little button detail. The image is nicely framed and anchored with pretty elements that add further interest to the page and I love the wordart/alpha title. Gorgeous!

iTunes 02/23 by OKate is close to my heart and the “airmail” border and postmarks remind me of all the letters my sister and I used to send each other while I lived overseas quite some moons ago! A beautiful photo, beautiful masking, great title work and a little journaling all make for a splendid page. Fabulous!

Sisters and Friends by Jill is so full of fun with all the delicious layers and detail, from the pretty little blue bow on top right down to the heart embossed, ombre backing paper. Again, lots of colour bring this page to life and I love how girly it is. Amazing!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the art I’ve brought to you today and that you’re inspired to scrap a page or too of your own. When you have a moment, click on the links above and leave a comment or two for the artists, it will be so appreciated. Till next time, take care and happy scrapping!
