Finger Pointing (June 9)

Hey friends, it’s Barb back for the second part of my double feature this week. When I was here picking layouts on Tuesday, it was all about the photos. Today it’s all about introspection. There are some really, wonderfully thoughtful layouts out there today and I’m so happy to be sharing them with you again here at GSO!

I don’t know if you can relate to this first one, but I sure can. It practically leaped out at me and said “This is you too”!  Here is I Became My Mom by 4Noisyboys. In addition to loving the concept, I think the layers and the colors are fantastic!

I love to travel myself, so when I see a well done travel layout it just grabs me.  The main photo in Paris Walk really grabbed me.  Good design, and thessh puts a lot of photos on the page in a sensible way and still has breathing room for journaling.

My talented friend Annaaspnes is up next with Spelling Test. Anna scraps like nobody else I know. She’s got a sense of style and design that nobody can duplicate. I love how the photos in this one look like three dimensional prisms to me. They seem to be coming off of the page at very interesting angles. Well done as always.

This next layout by DitaB is part scrapbook layout, part art journal, part kid’s art project. It’s just a whole mess of arty-color-wonderful fun. Here’s We Are A Family.

I love “day in the life” type of layouts, and this one is very well done.  I especially like the kraft background with the pops of bright colors.  The title typography is pretty cool too.  Here is This is Today by nmartin1.

An excellent photoless pick today is Bad Teacher by mommy2boyz. Great journaling, even if the subject matter isn’t all rainbows and unicorns.  Sometimes the tough things in our lives help us appreciate the good.

Super cool Wish List by stampin_rachel. I know I can relate to this.  Great use of color, artsy style, and funky text.

Layouts with black and white and pops of color always make my heart skip a little beat. Here’s a Perfectly excellent one with a great photo and fun pops of color by Hutchie.

If the name wasn’t cute enough, there’s always the creatures. If the creatures aren’t cute enough, there’s always this darling girl.  A great fantasy layout pick for today is from Nixxie with Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary.

I really, really love layouts that dig deep and expose fear or challenges that we face in our lives.  When there is some symbolism tossed in, I get a bit giggly. Here is a great introspective layout, I Need To Cross This Bridge, by Jomi. Everything about it just works, and there is so much to see. Every time I look at it I discover something new.

Sometimes a cute kid is all it takes for me to make my pick. This is one of those times. There’s just something about this darling little boy and how his foot is sticking out like that. Maybe it’s because that’s how I sit when I’m watching television. I don’t know, I just love this.  Here is Catch the Wave by Oksana.

And finally, I saved my favorite of the day for last. Not that I don’t love all the layouts above, I really do. But this next layout, Remember This Yesterday Always, nearly broke my heart. The journaling is so heartfelt and heartbreaking. I hope that this couple can find their way back to each other ASAP.  In addition to the journaling, the layering and title work is just supurb.  This is what scrapbooking is all about to me.  Great work by nietis.
